LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT

Edgar Ranch custom transports sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, horses, and other animals long distances. We have a 31 foot aluminum double deck trailer. The trailer has six compartments with the deck in. When the deck is removed the trailer has three box stalls ten foot by six foot eight inches. The trailer is closable, as we travel, allowing transport in changing or unstable weather. We carry a loading ramp for loading to and unloading from the top deck and the bottom deck. We will transport an entire load for you or individual animals. We take great pride in delivering your animals on time and in excellent condition. Please use the phone number or e-mail below to communicate with us.

RATES

Edgar Ranch currently charges $2.40 per loaded mile for exclusive use of the whole trailer.

NEW HOLLAND

We transport market stock to New Holland, Pennsylvania for producers. We pick up full loads at your location. We arrive at New Holland Sale Stables early Sunday afternoon. Your animals are off loaded, penned, fed, and watered upon arrival. I check their water and hay in the early evening and again in the late evening before I sleep. By the following morning your animals will show little evidence of being hauled. Goats sell Monday at 9:00 eastern time and sheep sell one hour after the goat sale ends which is usually in the mid to late afternoon. The transportation charge can be deducted from your sales check.

DELIVERY SERVICE

Edgar Ranch provides a delivery service. This service involves picking the animal/animals up at an agreed location and transporting them to their new location.

SMALL ANIMAL FEES
(Sheep, Goats, Livestock Guarding Dogs)

  • The fee is $650 for the first animal for 1000 miles. Please add $100 for each additional 500 loaded miles. Each additional animal is $65.00.

LARGE ANIMAL FEES
(Alpacas, Horses, Cattle, Minicows, Llamas)

  • Note on trailer space: I recently hauled three loads of Llamas from Wisconsin to North Carolina. The trailer will comfortably haul eighteen mature unsheared Llamas per load.

EDGAR RANCH TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Complete contact information is needed to confirm a ride on a route. I need the cell phone numbers and/or landline numbers of the pickup and delivery persons. I need complete physical addresses of the pickup and delivery points. One half of the projected fee is due to confirm space on a trip. The remaining one half is due in cash at delivery.

TO KNOW

I carry fresh high quality water on the trailer. The trailer is bedded with shavings. Each customer must provide hay to feed their animals.

I stop at least 10 hours every travel day providing quiet/no movement for the animals and rest for me.

The trailer has triple rubber axles. The ride is extremely smooth. Water does not slosh out of the buckets as we travel. This means much less fatigue for your animals.

I have the ability to provide cooling fans for heat sensitive animals. This is usually not necessary since the trailer is very open in the summer.

I have the ability to transport animals with no physical contact with any other animal. I have done this for clients with high value livestock. I charge a small extra fee for this service if the client wants a new water bucket. The destination customer keeps the bucket at delivery.

I will milk lactating animals. I have a Caprine System milking machine on board. On one of my recent trips I milked twenty-five does two times per day.

The charge for milking lactating animals is $5 per milking per animal. Milking is on twelve hour intervals.

I am accessible nearly all the time via cell phone.

I check emails each day via on board computer.

The truck and trailer occupy about the same space as a semi. If you have a difficult entrance or location, you will need to meet me at an accessible location.

The trailer is cleaned after each trip. The deck is completely removed. The trailer and deck are cleaned of all solids. Then the trailer and both sides of the deck are power washed.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Delivery Service animals need health papers which may include state entrance numbers, and in some cases blood tests and/or vaccinations for interstate delivery. Please plan ahead for these vet services. They always take longer than you think.
